Backpacks for Kids

Backpacks for Kids provides low-income children who are Durham County Department of Social Services clients with new backpacks and school supplies for the new school year. To provide a child with a backpack and a kit filled with school supplies is about $35 per child (there is some range, depending on age group).

Last year, we assisted over 300 children. We would like to increase that number this year. Please help us ensure that children whose families would face significant financial obstacles in providing basic tools for school are ready to go when the opening bell rings this fall.
