The Durham Literacy Center is participating in the Great Human Race in Durham on Saturday, April 22, 2017, to support hundreds of adults, youth and immigrants in learning to read, write and take control of their futures. We want YOU (and your friends and family) to join our team!
Every year the Durham Literacy Center provides services to over 600 students, giving them skills and confidence to take control of their future. Literacy improves earning potential, strengthens families and enriches our community. YOU CAN HELP!
Since 1985, the DLC has...
Provided literacy services to more than 16,500 Durham residents
Provided critical education to immigrants and refugees from more than 20 countries
Trained and supported more than 1,800 volunteer tutors

Make a donation on this page
Each dollar helps a Durham youth or adult learn to read or speak English, reach educational and job-readiness goals, and raise their families out of poverty.
Become a fundraiser
Raise money for the DLC's
Race to Read Team by clicking on the red button on the top right of this page that says "BECOME A FUNDRAISER" and making a page for yourself. Then forward the link to your page and ask your friends, families or co-workers to donate to our team.
Become a team leader
Walk with the DLC's
Race to Read Team and recruit your friends, family, and/or co-workers to create a team of walkers or runners on behalf of the DLC.

Runners
Anybody running for the DLC in the timed 5k race can use this code and the DLC will get an additional donation! DLC's code is
literacy17. Note: this applies only to Registered Runners who pay the race entry fee. It does NOT apply to any participant who has not paid the registration fee. The promo code MUST be entered at the time of registration. If a runner has already registered, he or she is not able to retroactively apply the promo code. The link for runner registration is:
