Join me and RACE for REFUGEES with World Relief Durham in the Great Human Race.
Support me to participate in this 5k to raise money for refugee resettlement here in the Triangle area.
I love my job. I have the privilege of working with our passionate volunteers who consistently hit the ground running to empower our refugees. Although I have had the honor of calling myself a World Relief Durham Staff Member for only about three months now, I have witnessed the body of Christ
ban together through this amazing, chaotic and God-driven ministry to serve the refugee population.
Many would consider this community of people
'invisible,' less talked about and less tended to than other populations in our country. World Relief Durham creates
tangible ways for us to serve the nations and 'the least of these'
(Matthew 25:40). It encourages people to
get out of their comfortable homes and form
life-long friendships with refugees by loving them and serving alongside them
in mutually-beneficial relationships.
However, resettling refugees
takes resources -- time, financial assistance, quick-thinking brains and flexibility
. I am raising money to support World Relief Durham's
refugee resettlement program, which
empowers refugees to be
self-sufficient in their new lives here in the Triangle area.

"Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations that do not know you will hasten to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor."

Here at World Relief Durham, we strive to bridge the gap between newly arriving refugees and the local Church body. Our work is expanding, as we resettle over 200 new refugees annually, who are part of the over 160,000 foreign-born people living in the Triangle. Financial assistance will make this expansion possible.
Any donation is helpful -- whether it's $1 or $100, we can work together to bring refugees to self-sufficiency through employment classes, rent assistance while refugees are looking for jobs, ESL classes, etc.
Help me raise
my goal of $500 to support refugees here in the area -- you all are amazing. If you have any questions about this at all, please feel free to email me at kbaker@wr.org.
