Carolina Children’s Communicative Disorders Program

Raised: $0Remaining: $500

The original purpose of the W. Paul Biggers Carolina Children's Communicative Disorders Program (CCCDP) was to provide funding for hearing devices for children who are deaf and hard of hearing, whose families do not qualify for other public programs, and who do not have adequate income to obtain devices that are not covered by insurance.  It has been funded as a private/public partnership since 1992. The grant has provided financial assistance to over 1,500 children in 88 of the state's 100 counties. Currently, over 400 children across North Carolina are getting financial assistance for hearing aids or cochlear implants through the CCCDP.

Located in Durham, the CCCDP is also home to the University of North Carolina Pediatric Cochlear Implant program.  Through the wonders of technology.  We have helped over 1000 children in North Carolina a neighboring states be able to hear.

The Carolyn J. Brown Center for the Acquisition of Spoken language Through Listening Enrichment (CASTLE) is a unique part of the CCCDP family.  CASTLE is dedicated to providing a quality listening and spoken language program for children with hearing loss; empowering parents as primary teachers and advocates; training and coaching specialists in listening and spoken language.

The CCCDP and CASTLE programs work together to provide a comprehensive family centered model to help children who are deaf and hard of hearing learn to listen and talk.  We are a world renown program, located right here in Durham.  We need your help to keep thriving and providing assistance to the families we work with.  We have recently started using tele-therapy through our REACH program.  With REACH, we are able to provide therapy to children in even the most rural areas by using video technology.  With REACH, we are able to help more families than ever before!
