SEEDS
Give Durham children the opportunity to
Play, Learn & Grow this summer at SEEDS!
SEEDS is near and dear to my heart - and the camp experiences here encompass why. SEEDS gives urban youth an opportunity to reconnect with nature, to joyfully explore the world around us, to learn where their food comes from, and to engage in learning through interaction.
I've been privileged to witness the transformation these children can make, and the lasting impact the lessons they learn have on them, their families and their community. I hope you'll support this amazing program with me - or even come out and run with me on Team Ugly Tomatoes April 6.
Why Ugly Tomatoes? Because they are amazing - they are the taste and smell of summer in a completely unique package. They embody healthy food to me: grown for flavor and nourishment, not to fit an aesthetic standard. I can't wait for them to ripen!
Your support will allow SEEDS to provide camper-ships to Durham youth
who could not otherwise afford this opportunity.
Interactive experiences at SEEDS let young naturalists explore an urban oasis with all five of their senses as they observe and engage with the wonders of the world around us. Children will have the chance to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the earth as they:
· Harvest food from the garden and prepare healthy snacks
· Observe plants and animals - and learn to move like them!
· Expand their creativity through garden crafts and nature-inspired story-telling
· Learn how to care for their environment everyday
· And much more!
