The Raleigh-Durham Area (RDA) Chapter of Blacks in Government (BIG) is a 501(c)(3) organization that exists to support civil service professionals working in local, state, and federal levels of government in the Raleigh-Durham area community. The RDA Chapter was organized in 1985 in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina as an educational, charitable, scientific, and literary organization. The RDA Chapter promotes equity in all aspects of American life, excellence in public service, and opportunity for all Americans.
The RDA Chapter of BIG offers training, professional growth and development opportunities, counseling and representation, community service, job opportunities through media avenues, and advocacy for equality in employment. RDA BIG is a combination of a Wellness Program and Community Outreach. Our members participate in or sponsor various programs such as Feds Feed Families, Toys for Tots, CFC, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, College Scholarships, CROP Hunger Walk, Angel Tree, MLK Day, Black History Month, Women’s Health, STEM Outreach, and The Central Children’s Home in Oxford. The chapter also donates to Disaster Relief efforts and provides voter registration and assistance.
We are excited to participate in our 2nd Great Human Race event!
Every dollar we raise helps us support STEM Outreach and our community!
