Though I will not be able to participate in the Great Human Race in Durham on April 6 along with other members of the Center's staff, board, and volunteers, I will instead be running the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, SC (my first 10k!).  I hope you will consider making a donation of any size to help support my run and the work of the Orange County Rape Crisis Center, an organization that is striving to end sexual violence in our community.

The need for sexual assault crisis assistance, advocacy, and education in our community and all communities is critical if we want to STOP sexual violence.  The Orange County Rape Crisis Center has long been a leader in Orange County and across the state for its emphasis on best practices and community engagement.  Services of the Center include a 24-hour help line, support groups, therapy referrals, and educational programs for adults and kids in EVERY elementary school in Orange County.  As a board member at the Center, I want to support the continued work of staff and volunteers to support survivors and their families and prevent the occurrence of sexual violence in our community.

In 2011-2012, the Center served 584 clients, a 55% increase over the past 2 years.

Nearly 11,000 youth and adults participated in educational programs offered by the Center about recognizing and preventing sexual violence.

12 support groups and workshops, held in English and Spanish, were hosted in 2011-2012.

135 Spanish speaking clients were served, a 400% increase over the past 2 years.
