North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation

Raised: $0Remaining: $100

The NCPF is committed to ensuring that psychoanalytic education and treatment will be available to future generations of North Carolinians and is building a network of psychoanalytic organizations and the major mental health disciplines in order to promote psychoanalytic education among mental health professionals.

The Foundation raises funds and builds endowments order to build community capacity and resilience. The David Raft Endowment for Outreach and Education and the Priscilla Freeman Endowment are examples of how the Foundation leverages community resources in support of our mission.

The NCPF sponsors a Psychoanalytic Speakers Bureau, a Prize in Journalism, Monthly e-Newsletters, Peaceful Schools-NC, and other programs that apply psychoanalytic ideas and perspectives to real issues and problems of importance to the community, and that promote better understanding of psychoanalytic therapies.

The NCPF is led by a multidisciplinary board of directors and is supported by a growing cadre of members, donors and volunteers who make all we do possible. Membership is open to everyone who shares an interest in psychoanalytic perspectives and wishes to create a more resilient community by applying psychoanalytic expertise to the needs of the community.

The Great Human Race is a 5k run and community walk, sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Durham that supports area non-profits, such as NCPF. This unique fundraising event: supports hundreds of non-profits, schools and faith-based groups; provides an opportunity for any nonprofit agency to raise money for their own organization; enables businesses and individuals to support the nonprofit of their choice; and has raised almost $2 million since its inception in 1996.

The 5k course runs through the historic Watts Hospital-Hillandale neighborhood. A National Historic District, this gently rolling course will allow runners and walkers to enjoy a scenic neighborhood that is a treasure trove of early twentieth-century American residential architecture. Bring your family and friends out to enjoy the walk/run and stay for the festive after-party!
