Serving as a Johnson Service Corps this year has truly provided the opportunity to for me ton invest in my personal development while serving my community.
As someone who is going into ministry, being able to connect with people who tend to be overlooked is very important to me. Serving as an intern at Freedom House Recovery has helped me to confirm within myself where I am truly destined to be and my vocation.
That's what Johnson Service Corps does. It makes you face yourself, push yourself, and grow yourself. You learn how to connect more deeply with yourself, your higher power, and your intentional community. The intentional community aspect of have 6-7 housemates truly pushes you to understand various cultural and family dynamics of people. Building a more open mind, stronger patience, and more compassion are all things I have greatly benefited from.
Lastly, having all of these skills has now equipped me to be a more empowering servant to any community that I work and serve in. That's why supporting organizations like JSC is so important. The work that is started and done during the program, expands out into the surrounding communities and increases in impact as each corp member goes forward to share what they have learned.
We are truly the servant-leaders that businesses, non-profits, religious communities, political communities, medical communities, and educational arenas search for and need. So please help my organization by donating any amount you have to give! Every bit counts!
