I have the honor to serve on HopeLine's Board of Directors and also serve on the Events Committee. HopeLine is a crisis intervention and suicide prevention call and text line. HopeLine’s underlying premise is that “caring, non-judgmental listening and resource information” will “improve the overall well-being of people in the community.”
As many people do, I have struggled for many years with anxiety and depression. Five years ago I never would have shared about my struggles but it’s so important we talk about these things and support one another in these difficult times. Mental health is IMPORTANT.
Many people don’t ever get out of those dark days and die by suicide. It’s a tough topic to talk about but so many of us have been affected in someway by it. At HopeLine, it is our mission to support people and save lives during times of crisis through caring, confidential conversations. In order to address the stigma against mental health and the rising rates of suicide, we provide our community with a free, confidential and nonjudgmental crisis hotline and textline. My own struggles and those I have lost to suicide are my WHY.
Your support will help us fund staffing the lines during our highest call hours where we are unable to answer everyone’s calls, and increase awareness and get the resource out into the community. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
