I am a fundraiser for

Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association

Raised: $20Remaining: $980

In a world of increased population, urbanization, demand for clean water, the value of watershed health cannot be underestimated.  The Ellerbe creek watershed encloses much of central Durham and as such is essential to the health of water cycle in the city.  The Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association (ECWA) is a volunteer non-profit organization charged not only with maintaining the physical health of the watershed, but more importantly operating manifold public outreach effort that brings volunteer opportunities, jobs, and education to thousands of area residents every year.  The Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association works tirelessly to protect the watershed by purchasing land and preserving it, converting disused and often polluted areas into preserves and public spaces that not only provide recreational and educational opportunities for residents, but through sustainable and restorative land management practices, actually help to rebuild watershed health that has been degraded by urbanization and poor land management.  The Ellerbe Creek properties host a diversity of fascinating plants and wild animals that deserve our protection, and because of ECWA's efforts, can be observed by area residents, offering the opportunity for Durham's citizens, especially its children, to be exposed to wildlife that they would not otherwise tht the opportunity to see.

I could go on and on, but I'll wrap it up.  Please consider donating to this wonderful organization.

Ellerbe creek is literally in my backyard, and if you're reading this because of a link I sent you or posted online, there's a good bet it's in your backyard too.  ECWA has the support of a generous matching donor this year, so donations count double up to $2500 dollars.  Please consider donating to allow this organization to continue its wonderful work to preserve these important natural spaces, and make them available to the public.
