I am a fundraiser for
Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association
Thank You For Your Support!
The Cohn/Gonzalez Family at our neighborhood ECWA preserve, 17-Acre Wood
-------------------------------------
Ellerbe Creek and its watershed provide habitat for many plant, bird and wildlife species, while offering an unexpected encounter with nature's beauty within downtown Durham. The Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association (ECWA) has protected over 340 acres critical to the creek's health by converting degraded urban lands into nature preserves. Ellerbe Creek flows into Falls Lake - the water supply for over 1/2 million people, a vibrant recreation spot and home to even more flora and wildlife. We're protecting and restoring Ellerbe Creek for the people of Durham, our downstream neighbors, and it's natural inhabitants!
Last year, with two generous matches ECWA raised over $11,000!
Help us make even more this year!
What we do with your generous contributions:
-
We improve water quality by installing rain gardens and rain water cisterns in the watershed and by leading classes and workshops that teach neighbors how to make their homes and businesses Creek Smart.
-
We protect the creek and its habitat by managing natural preserves across the urban watershed. We own over 340 acres of land with a new preserve, The Rocks, on the way in 2016!
-
We connect Durham neighbors by creating a network of preserves and trails, hosting nature hikes, and organizing volunteer workdays and clean-ups
-
We introduce children to the creek and it’s ecology through relationships with schools and other educators, as well as our own Family Explorers Club for children under 6 and their families
Thank you for supporting us and ECWA
