In the short time I have been an intern at the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association (ECWA) I have seen the fantastic work they do to restore, preserve, and protect the creek. ECWA gets the community involved at every step through stewardship days, nature hikes, and special programming for school age children like the Family Explorers Club. They have worked to protect the watershed through land preserves since 1999, restoring Durham’s most impaired stream so it can be appreciated both as an ecological resource and community asset for the enjoyment of all.
