Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) has been helping animals in our community since 1970. APS of Durham is a leader in building lifelong bonds between people and animals through education, community outreach, and providing for animals in need. We provide education to the public about the human care, treatment and well-being of all animals; help to stop pet overpopulation through the promotion of spay/neuter programs; and find suitable adoptive homes for the animals in our care. Much of our work is accomplished through the management of the Durham County Animal Shelter where we provide food, shelter, enrichment and medical attention to more than 5,000 stray, surrendered or abused animals each year.
