I am a fundraiser for
A Ban Against Neglect, Inc.
Hey Friends! Welcome to Team Mary!
Let me be completely honest. I hate running with nearly every fiber of my being. Many a time I have tried to trick myself into enjoying it, but it's never happened. I will avoid this endeavor in any way I can. So what finally convinced me to get over myself and run a 5k? Running on behalf of my dear friend Ma Mary. So I, along with Merrill and Cindy Mason, are trying to raise $1,500 for ABAN in honor of her.
Ma Mary is one of 10 ABAN staff members in Ghana. She is responsible for the important task of feeding all the staff, apprentices and babies every single day at the compound. This is no easy job as there are around 50 people eating at meals every day! She also mentors the girls by teaching them the basics of catering in the kitchen which is a viable career path for their futures!
Ma Mary has the best heart! She is always the first to greet visitors to the compound and always with a smile. She loves listening to music and relaxing in her free time! Her favorite meal to eat is Banku, which is a cassava dough. She lives at the ABAN compound with her granddaughter Ama, who attends school in town.
We’re running for Ma Mary because she is essential to the growth and development of the ABAN girls, teaching them important skills and habits that they can use to benefit their families after graduation. She also keeps our friends in Ghana well-fed so they are able to reach their full potential each and every day!
Help us reach our goal of $1,500 by donating now! If you look to the right on this page you'll see a pretty box where you can enter the amount of your choice. Every dollar counts! Real talk. Thanks in ABANce for your support! Prayers for my survival would also be appreciated.
